Early 20th Century Armadillo Jelly Mould

Code: CE473

W: 15cm (5.9")H: 10cm (3.9")L: 21cm (8.3")

A super earthenware jelly mould, made by Wileman & Co (later Shelley) under their Foley tradename. This mould produces a jelly in the shape of a very characterful and detailed armadillo. The design cannot be seen on the outside of the mould, but it turns out beautifully and produces a lovely jelly. These moulds came in three sizes - this is the medium sized mould. It bears the printed Wileman backstamp and registration number 430123, dating it to about 1900.

It has a little minor crazing to the glaze.
