A very attractive Hippo Brand suitcase made from pressed board resembling crocodile skin. It dates to approximately the 1920s when luggage made from animal skins was particularly popular but not everyone could afford such luxurious accessories. This faux crocodile skin is so effective and until you feel the weight of the case you would be fooled into believing it was the real thing. It has a textured finish with rich colouring. The edges of the lid are reinforced with metal strips, and the corners of the case are also reinforced. The case is paper lined and has a Hippo Brand label inside the lid. The case is in very good condition with minor wear to the paper lining.
