A fabulous, large wicker hamper or laundry basket, dating to around the turn of the 20th century. This super piece is made out of sturdy woven wicker with integrated handles, and iron banding to the hinged lid. It closes with a double-clasped, sliding iron lock. It is fully lined and has an internal wicker tray. It still retains the original runners to the base. The iron locking bar is marked "C Dobson. Basket Maker. Dewsbury". This basket was probably made for use in a large country house. It has great proportions and is very decorative, as well as being useful for storage.
It is in good original condition.
