A charming and unusual novelty piece dating to about the 1930s, in the form of a little wooden bottle containing a tiny little red devil. The bottle bears a paper label marked "Infernal Spirit". It splits in half to reveal the little devil suspended on a thread from inside the top of the bottle. He is beautifully made out of wood and has been handpainted. It is very unusual and appealing, and redolent of the hedonistic inter-war period.
I did wonder if this was an advertising piece, but I can't find anything else relating to a product called "Infernal Spirit", so think it is just a novelty item.
