A beautifully carved wooden Balinese wall plaque, dating to the mid to late 20th century. The carving is dense and in high relief, with a three dimensional look. The plaque depicts a traditional Barong Dance featuring characters from Indonesian mythology. In the middle is the lion-like character Barong, with one of his monkey helpers below. Above is Rangda with one of her demon-like servants in the bottom centre. The dance depicts the battle between good and evil, Barong representing good and Rangda evil.
