A traditional African bolon harp or guitar, dating to approximately the mid 20th century. These instruments are played mainly in Guinea and Mali, so it probably originates from one of these two countries. It is made out of a large calabash gourd covered with goat hide. These instruments usually have one neck, but this one is unusual in that it has two bow shaped necks. Each has three strings attached. The sides of the body are decorated with cowrie shells.
