A beautiful reconstituted marble bust of the Virgin Mary and the Christ Child, dating to approximately the mid 20th century. The original sculpture was made by French artist Marie Caullet Nantard in approximately the 1920s. Nantard was born in 1876 and is well known for her religious subjects. This piece is a tender study of mother and child in which the faces and hands are particularly beautiful. The back bears Nantard's impressed signature.
