A very unusual tramp art sculpture of a snake made out of old metal bottle caps in approximately the mid 20th century. The snake has a carved wooden head which has been painted and embellished with little glass and metal beads. Its mouth is open to reveal rows of little teeth made of glass beads and a twisted wire tongue. The snake is posed round a small tree branch mounted in a wooden base.
This type of bottle-cap folk art originated in America around the turn of the last century.
