Dimensions:

W: 7cm (2.8")D: 3.5cm (1.4")L: 9cm (3.5")

A collection of 12 unusual West African bronze plaques, dating to around the mid 20th century. These small plaques were made using the lost wax process and probably originate from the area of Benin, Nigeria, Cameroon and Ghana . They are in high relief with various protruding motifs including crocodiles, spiders, antelope heads, double headed serpents and a pair of bells with striking stick. Two have tribal figures springing from their surfaces. They are beautifully made and quite detailed. They all have integral spikes moulded into their backs and were made to be mounted onto a wooden door, wall or column.

They are in good condition with an appealing aged patina.
