1950s Prosthetic Leg

An adult's prosthetic left leg, made by J E Hanger & Co of London in the 1950s. It is made of aluminium painted in a flesh tone, with leather fittings. It has articulated knee and ankle joints. There is a hinged metal brace to one side with leather straps attached for holding it in place. There is a metal label attached to the back showing that this leg was issued from Hanger's Nottingham branch in 1954. 

This unusual item is in good condition with a little wear to the paintwork.
