Shropshire Etching by Piers Browne

An artist's proof etching entitled "The Wrekin from Caer Caradoc, Shropshire" by the renowned Yorkshire based artist Piers Browne (b.1949). This is one of a series of etchings that Browne produced for an edition of A E Housman's "A Shropshire Lad", published in a handmade limited edition of only 25 in 1986 by the Shorthorn Press. It was later reprinted in a larger edition. The volume contained 40 of Browne's etchings to accompany Housman's verse. 

This example is the artist's proof and therefore the first printing of this particular image. It has been highlighted with handpainting by the artist to the peaks of the hills. It is signed by Browne and dated 1982. It is mounted and framed behind glass and is ready to hang.
